NARS dual-intensity eyeshadow in “Dione” : I was going to purchase this a few weeks ago at Sephora’s VIB Rouge event but the color was sold out in store. I’m glad I was able to find it at Nordstrom. It’s a gorgeous, rich two tone silver/gold shadow with huge color pay off and a lot of shiny without the chunky sparkle look, which I appreciate.
Burberry Sheer Eye Shadow in “No. 09 Rosewood” : This is my first Burberry Beauty purchase and I’m excited to see how this stuff works. My first impression of it- very, very smooth in application, like velvet, and absolutely nothing about it is “sheer”. The shadow is highly pigmented with a slight sheen to it. The shade is pretty unique as well, somewhere between a plum and a lavender.
Tom Ford Lip Color Shine in “10 Willful” : First TF purchase as well. I really, really enjoy YSL’s Rouge Volupte Shine lipsticks, and heard this was comparable…it seems to be. Buildable, transparent application and more of a lip balmy texture make it easier to wear. I got it in a straight-up red shade, which turned a nice medium coral on me. It looked too bright in the tube, but I like it on. Seriously though, the price is ridiculous. My curiosity got the better of me.
MAC Pigment Colour Powder in “Vanilla” : I have yet to explore the wide, wonderful world of pigments, so I figured why not start with the ever popular and generously portioned MAC pigments. “Vanilla” is a beautiful snow-sparkle white with yellow and pink undertones. I don’t have any plans for this sucker yet but I’m thinking on it.
I’ve promised myself these are the last cosmetics I will be purchasing until next year! I am really flush right now and I won’t to focus on using up (and reviewing) what I already have.
Here’s the lovely sample bag my items came with :
Holy Cow! I am really in love with this sample set. I know there are a lot of perfumes in here, but the quality of the products puts Beauty.com and Ulta’s sample bag offers to shame. THREE Trish McEvoy Minis?!! Yay! 🙂
Anyone try any of these sample or products (or want to)? What do you think of them??
I am really, really into my monthly subscription boxes and new ones seem to be popping up all over the place! I have been receiving goodies from Ipsy and Glossybox for a while now and love them both. Just this last month, I added 3 more subscriptions to my lineup, one of them called Wantable. Wantable offers monthly subscription boxes for beauty products, accessories and lingerie. Since I am looking to beef up my jewelry collection, I signed up for their accessories program. I filled out a short survey about my preferences, put down $36 and Wham-oh! A week or so later received this lovely box filled with 4 different pieces. Here’s my review!
1 . The Lainey Bracelet: I have noticed that wide metal cuffs like this look….bondage-y… if they are too tight, but this silver tone hinged cuff is just the right size. I don’t own anything quite like this and I’m thinking I’ll probably pair it with something less modern and more rocker chic to take the futuristic edge off. I like the black piping also.
2 . The Cheri necklace: This long, gold tone double chain with dangling feather and two talons confuses me a bit. I like the pendants, especially the white one, but I don’t get why the chain that the feather hangs from changes to a solid, criss-cross pattern instead of remaining links, like the chain for the talons. If it was just two separate chains all the way through that were linked together, I’d like it more. The heavier chain seems to make kind of an awkward loop at the bottom, but we’ll see how it looks on. I’m no jewelry designer and I’m going to assume Wantable’s accessories ppl know what they’re doing.
3 . The Diana Earring: Holy F*ck, these are gorgeous. I love, love, love these earrings. Surprisingly light weight and a great mix of tough and glam. The rhinestones have a wonderful, colorful reflection in them too. These I will wear. Favorite.
4 . The Andre Necklace: Love this also! The silver toned chain has unique links that are flatter and thicker- kind of utilitarian looking- which is offset nicely with the horn/spike deal, because it looks kind of earthy, despite the metallic surface. one side of the spike/horn thingy is silver toned with fine black piping and the opposite side is a glossy solid gold tone. Love that contrast, and the length is a good in between- not so short it looks like it’s coming out of your neck and not so long it looks like it’s pointing at your hoo-hoo. Yup, I said it.
There you have it! Not too bad. I think $36 is a little steep, but I absolutely loved two of the pieces and I like the fact that these are things I may have never picked out for myself, but am happy with. I’ll stick around another month and see how things go in August.

This kid is growing so fast, it’s really mind blowing. I’m guessing that she’ll be in her 18 month clothes at about 14 months? Around then.
Here are a few things my mom and I picked up at the Carter’s and Oshkosh B’gosh Outlets in Woodburn.
My best piece of advice to anyone shopping for babies for the first time…if you see something you love that’s a great deal, buy it in multiple sizes!
Yesterday afternoon hubbie was feeling tired and wanted to take a nap so Baby Girl and I headed out to do some baby shopping.
Here are a few reasons why I like shopping for Baby Girl pretty much more than anything:
-she doesn’t have certain colors that wash her out, things that don’t fit right, any weird preferences or wackass body image stuff going on- she looks great in everything and likes whatever she is wearing.
-she approaches clothes with that same excitement and awe that I get- she loves looking at textures and colors and styles just like I do.
-I love shopping for other people way more than I love shopping for myself. It makes me want to pee in my pants a little bit really thinking about what they would like, instead of picking out stuff for them that I like or want them to have, which is what most ppl do when they pick out gifts, whether they are aware of it or not.
ONWARD! TO THE CUTE OUTFITS!
Oh my God, I can’t believe I’m already buying 12 month and 18 month clothes! The time has gone by so fast. It’s weird to think that just 10 months ago I was telling myself I can’t do this, that I can’t be a mother, I can’t handle it…and now I really cannot imagine what life would be like without her.
I really try and not go in for the pink thing with Baby Girl’s clothes mostly because it gets annoying that EVERYTHING is pink and also because that’s generally what friends and family are going to buy for her anyway. I don’t mind putting her in green or grey and then having someone tell me what a beautiful BOY I have 🙂
The outfits from Norstrom Rack are my favorite. I love the onesies with stretchy bottoms because her shirt doesn’t ride up and the pants are easy to get on and off for diaper changing. Trust me, the frilly layered outfits with all kind of tights and what not look cute, but they are a pain in the ass to navigate. Ain’t nobody got time for that.
The outfit above was the bargain of the day. The shirt is so soft and light that she’ll be able to wear this in warmer weather with sandals also.
Love the little hot pink bow accent on this.
A wonderfully uneventful day yesterday- skipped my first class of the day because I’m a lazy b*tch and wanted to sleep, then had to make it to Jacobean Drama to turn in a paper and also didn’t want to miss out on a lecture wrapping up The Tragedy of Mariam, which I ended up seriously loving!
We watched a few minutes of a documentary from the UK about adapting The Tragedy of Mariam to the stage, and although I thought some parts were cool, I think I really prefer hearing it read aloud or reading it silently as opposed to watching it performed. The outward focus of the production itself seemed to take away from the fact that the whole drama is pretty much about the inner turmoil/conflict of the characters.
Got out at about 1 o’clock and had some time before a dr.’s appointment to do some shopping and run some errands-
Did some shopping for a friend @ Powells’ Home and Garden for get well soon gift and came across those socks- seeing as my friend has to have a major surgery that is seriously going to inconvenience her for possibly 6 months, I thought the socks seemed appropriate 🙂
Then ran next door to Pastaworks and did some wine shopping for the weekend- more on the wines later 🙂
Meeting with the dr. went well. She gave me some really great tips about controlling my anxiety that I’m planning on trying over the next few weeks. We’ll see how that goes.
