Last year, I promised myself I wasn’t going to purchase any new beauty items until after January 1st, in an effort to save money for Christmas, rediscover some things I hadn’t used in a while and use up a number of items.

My sister took me out for a birthday celebration last week, and I decided to break the seal and pick up my VIB rouge gift from Sephora…which resulted in an additional little something and the cashing in of some points.

Formula X Effects Nail Color in “Light My Fire” : I fell in love with this brand last year after getting a free bottle of the special edition shade X ❤ Rouge at a VIBR event. The formula is super long lasting and surprsingly thin and easy to apply for how well it covers. I have been looking for a champagne sparkle with a metallic undertone for a while now and this one looks damn near perfect for me. My favorite sparkles/shimmers, especially the chunky ones are typically from Deborah Lippmann's line, but it's quite a bit pricier than this brand. I'm excited to try this stuff on some full oval or talon nails. ($12.50)

Sephora VIB Rouge Birthday Gift by NARS : AWESOME. I have never used a NARS crayon and I have heard they are quite good. This mini duo has the Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in “Cruella”, a dark blood red and the Satin Lip Pencil “Rikugien”, which is a nice, glossier YLBB shade with a slight plum tinge to it. Tested them both out and they are just beautiful- seems like NARS did a pretty good job here of including flattering, universal colors in this gift.

Philosophy Hope In a Jar Eye Cream : I am currently on the market for a staple eye cream. I like Origins Eye-Zing for use during the day, but would like something a bit heavier as a moisturizer and non-pigmented for overnight wearing. I’ve a few lately that haven’t really blown my doors off, so we shall see about this one. (100 points)

First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser : I absoutely love having little packets or tubes of cleanser in my gym bag for a after a workout. It’s my favorite time to wash my face. I’ve used First Aid Beauty’s moisturizer before, which was okay– the price is so good with this line it’s hard to pass up if you’re looking for a product that performs decently and is packaged generously.
