It has finally happened. The hot streak we have been on in the Pac NW has ended- the sky is couldy, the rain has started to fall and the wind has returned. I’m excited about it- Too much SUMMER for me. I miss my boots and sweaters!
Anyway, I thought I’d compile a short list of items I own that kept popping up on my radar this summer-

Kevyn Aucoin eyeshadow duo #202 in “Vellum Shimmer” and “Shimmering Wheat” : I found myself wearing this duo a lot this summer for a number of reasons. I love the neutrality of the colors and their ability to go with pretty much anything, but somehow this duo really pops on the eyes.  The shimmer is silky smooth and not a bit flakey and the tones are spot on- the vellum shade comes off silvery with a warm undertone, and the wheat shade is the absolute perfect subtle, soft gold shimmer.  I will admit that the duo needs to be blended out well, but an extra minute or two working on it is worth how gorgeous it looks.  With a primer, this stuff lasts all day, no creasing.

Anastasia Brow Wiz in “granite”: This is a holy grail product for a lot of people, I get that.  But for me, at different times of the year and with different skin tones, my eyebrow routine changes up a bit.  This summer, with a bit more color and chopping a few inches off my hair, this charcoal black shade just perfect for my brows.  I love a well groomed arch with a little bit of drama and this twist up pencil has a perfect point to work with- a spoolie on the end too, yay.

Ben Nye Final Seal Matte Makeup Concealer : With the sun and the heat this summer,  I wanted a spray on the drying side, and there is no other makeup setting spray I would have wanted.  It is super fast drying with a very fine mist and a pump that actually works.  I really, really enjoyed the minty smell and cooling sensation of this spray as well.  There are other makeup setting sprays I love that I feel are more appropriate for other seasons.

Juice Beauty Lipgloss in “Pink” : This lipgloss was just nothing but a whole bunch of wonderful this summer. It’s thin and workable enough to not even need a mirror to apply, but the color wasn’t the typical YLBB pink either- it has a lovely, mauvey tone with a brighter pink micro shimmer mixed in.  I wouldn’t say it lasts super long, but that wasn’t a big deal for me- I like applying lipgloss and the fact that this stuff smells like grapefruit juice doesn’t bother me at all 🙂

Clinique Bottom lash Mascara in “02 Black/Brown” : I bought this a while back during a Sephora VIB Rouge sale, and never used it a whole bunch until this summer. Again, with the humidity, globbing on mascara on my bottom lashes isn’t a good idea because it tends to end up under my eyes.  This stuff kicks a**.  The tiny little brush separates and coats bottom lashes super thinly, making them look very natural but much longer and fuller.  The mascara tends to fade out later in the day instead of ending up on my skin.  Plus, the price is fantastic.

IT Cosmetics CC+ Radiance Ombre Bronzer
: This big disk was a staple this summer.  A pretty highlighter with a more gold undertone fades into a gorgeous, rich matte bronzer at the bottom.  You can swirl a brush into either product or mix them together to get a bronzer that has a glowy look.  This product feels super smooth and silky on the skin, and it lasts forever.  It’s also much easier to use than it looks- in the pan, the highlighter and bronzer look a bit much for my pale skin, but were extremely blendable.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Lip Gel in “104 Love Spell” : I’ve talked about this lipstick before and that’s because I love it.  This shimmery, long wearing “lip gel” is the perfect combination of pink and coral and seems to add just enough color without getting crazy.  I also love that it’s hydrating and works great without any lip balm underneath it.

I am always on the lookout for new stuff- let me know what you used this summer!!!
