birchbox 1

This is my first month getting Birchbox- I’ve heard a lot of good things about this service, but it’s so similar to others that I’m already getting, I put off subbing for a while. I was pretty excited about receiving two boxes this month. Onward!

Catherine Malandrino Style de Paris Fragrance (sample size): This little black spritz bottle actually smells quite unique- top notes come off more berry/tart than fruity/sweet with a little honeysuckle thrown in. Very pretty for summer. (Full size- $110.00)

Model Co. Cosmetics Shimmer Bronzing Powder (full size) : I usually find that bronzers containing shimmer are just too shiny, but this looks just about perfect! The color is more subtle and the formulation is smooth, so I won’t have to use a super light hand when applying this. I have enjoyed Model Co. lip and cheek stains in the past so I’m looking forward to this one. (Full size- $22.00)

The Balm Cosmetics Stainiac Lip + Cheek Stain (.04 oz. sample) : The Balm! Hell yeah. I love this company. This shade is called “Beauty Queen”- looks very similar to the original Benefit Benetint with a thicker formulation. I appreciate the sponge applicator too, I hate getting this stuff all over my hands. ( Full size- $17.00)

Vasanti Cosmetics Brighten Up! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator (Sample size 20 g.) : A fine grained exfoliating scrub in a mighty thick cleanser featuring papaya, aloe, coconut and panthenol. IDK about this one- the scrub itself feels drying and I’m not a fan of the smell but…we shall see. (Full size- $34.00)

Whish Shave Crave Shaving Cream ( sample size .75 oz.) : I think this might be my favorite item out of the box. I have never gotten a shaving cream sample, and I love that this stuff feels rich and thick without coming from a spray can. I love the smell of this stuff in Acai Grapefruit, also. Green tea, shea butter and coconut oil give it some extra moisture. Looking forward to trying it. (Full size- $20.00)

On to Box #2:

The Women’s Health Magazine Birchbox had a little pamphlet in it labeled “Power Up: 12 bite sized challenges”- just some random booklet of 12 tips for a healthier life. I gotta admit I love reading materials in my beauty subscription boxes- does anyone remember Glossybox’s Glossy Mag? I really enjoyed that, I wish they’d bring it back! Anyway-

Cynthia Rowley Beauty Eyeliner (sample size .03 oz) : I don’t own a silver eyeliner, and I actually have a few Cynthia Rowley for Avon makeup brushes that I like, so this product is promising. The crayon glides on smoothly and the packaging is cute. (Full size- $16.00)

Harvey Prince Hello Body Cream (sample size 15 ml) : Another citrus and floral smelling item, heavy on the sweet almond oil. I like the constancy of it because it has the heaviness of a real body cream, yet seems to absorb pretty quickly. Like most sample size body lotions, I will fly through this stuff. (Full size- $22.00)

Supergoop! Daily Correct CC Cream (sample size 3 ml) : What a ridiculously tiny bottle this is….oh well. I am backed up with about a dozen cc cream sample bottles I need to try. This one is SPF 35, which is cool. It also claims to be a primer and foundation in one? Hmmm. (Full size- $32.00)

Smarty Pants Adult Complete Multi Vitamin Gummies (sample packet of two) : I’m not sure how I’m expected to fall in love with and then purchase full size with just two of these little suckers to try, but okay. This is probably going in my gym bag for a post-workout boost. Wait…the daily dose is supposed to be six gummies? Where are the other 4? Sometimes…companies just annoy me, you know? (Full size- $32.00)

N.4 Super Comb Prep & Protect (sample bottle 1 oz.) : A damp hair detangling mist with SPF that strengthens and smells awesome? Yes. This, I will use. (Full size- $32.00)

Feedback! anyone else get their Birchbox recently? Hits? S*its?
