Beauty Army interested me because it seemed a little different than my other box subscriptions. Rather than Beauty Army guessing what you’d want based on a survey, Beauty Army opens up a selection of samples and lets the subscriber choose, allowing them to avoid samples they know they won’t use, or snag something Beauty Army normally wouldn’t have selected for them. At only $12 a month, I figured I would try this out and see how it went.
Laneige BB Cushion (3 – .21 oz. samples) : Laneige is a smaller company owned by Amore Pacific and is sold in the U.S. exclusively at Target. I’m not the biggest fan of BB creams, but this product has won some awards and I happen to LOVE most Amore Pacific products I use. This BB comes in a compact instead of a tube, with the cream stored in a cushion. By pushing down on the cushion with the puff that comes with it, Laneige promises just the right amount of makeup with no mess. It can be layered under foundation or used alone. The SPF 50+ is a definite bonus. (Full size- .5 oz, $34.00)
Caldrea Aromatherapeutic Body Lotion (.25 oz. sample) : I am unfamiliar with this Minneapolis, MN based company and selected this sample pretty much just because I was curious about it and my body lotion samples are always the first to get used up. This sample is in No. 1 Aloe Water Apricot. The texture is on the thin side, the fragrance is labelled as “a modern white musk with florals” and the formulation features shea butter and chia seed oil. (Full size- 8 oz, $22.00)
Vibrant Health Vibrant Cleanse (.176 oz. sample) : What fresh hell is this? Master Cleanse in a powder form? Years ago, I did try Master Cleanse somewhat successfully and I was interested in how this stuff tastes. This mix is labelled “Organic Grade B Maple Syrup powder with Organic Lemon Juice crystals and Organic Cayenne”. I am simultaneously disgusted and intrigued. (Full size- 12.7 oz, $37.99)
Phyto 5 Jojoba and Shea Butter Nourishing Cream (.17 oz. sample) : Wow, what am I going to do with a whole .17 oz? Pfff. I get that the sample is small though, based on the full size price. Swiss company Phyto 5 features only organic, all natural ingredients in this face treatment. (Full size- 1.75 oz, $64.00)
Vincent Longo Lip & Cheek Gel Stain (.09 oz. sample) : The color I received, called “Angel’s Touch”, is in a glass tube with a sponge tip applicator, like a lip gloss and has a vanilla, sugary scent similar to MAC products. Dabbed a few times on the skin, it looks kinda like grape jelly, but rubbed in, it comes out a darker pink with a magenta undertone. A dab or two on the cheeks for blush, and a bit more for a lip stain. (Full size- .26 oz, $24.00)
English Laundry Fragrance By Christopher Wicks (.17 oz. sample) : Thank you, perfume sample for coming in a fine mist, plastic spray bottle. I usually shy away from “English” in the title, because based on my experience those are often heavy, rose based scents, but this actually smells fantastic and even a little bit like fresh laundry. Sample “No. 7” is a good balance between fruity and floral, more a light spring scent than a summer. My nose picks up jasmine the most and the base note smells more butter cream than vanilla. pretty nice. (Full size 3.4 oz, $90.00)
So far, so good. I really liked this box 🙂 Does anyone else get Beauty Army? What do you think of it?
